Consulting & Giving Back
Consulting
I consulted graduate students and post-doctorals in scholarly and professional writing in the Center for Communication Excellence at Iowa State University for over 4 years.
Writing consultations included job application materials, manuscripts, conference abstracts, intramural and extramural grant applications, theses, and dissertations.
I have 10+ years of combined experiences in the skills listed below (see bulleted list) and am offering consultation service to anyone who needs to bounce off ideas before making a professional pitch. My service is currently free and open to anyone with any background. Donations are appreciated (see Venmo QR code to the right to donate).
Priority will be placed for those from minoritized or disadvantaged backgrounds (i.e., racially and ethnically minoritized individuals, indigenous scholars, LGBTQIA+, non-citizen scholars/workers, women, disabled, neurodivergent, low-to-middle income). Giveback Policy
As part of my consulting practice, I am committed to reinvesting in the communities, research, and public education efforts that inform and inspire my work.
My consulting services—ranging from research advising and workshops to public speaking and policy engagement—are designed not only to advance institutional goals but also to uphold equity, inclusion, and accessibility in science and health.
How I Give Back
A portion of the revenue generated through my consulting work is used to support the following initiatives:
Compensation for Community Members
I allocate funds to fairly compensate autistic and disabled community members who participate in advisory boards, focus groups, and co-design sessions for research and public health projects.Open-Access Resources
I invest in the development and dissemination of free, publicly available resources, including webinars, toolkits, white papers, and infographics that translate scientific knowledge for families, practitioners, and communities.Research Translation and Dissemination
I use consulting proceeds to cover costs related to open-access publishing, community reporting, and the creation of accessible research summaries tailored for autistic and disabled individuals and their families.Support for Emerging Scholars
I direct a portion of funding toward mentoring and supporting early-career, neurodivergent, and underrepresented scholars through workshops, training opportunities, and co-authorship collaborations.
Commitment to Transparency
I am currently tracking consulting-generated giveback activities through [e.g., annual impact reports, blog updates, or a public dashboard]. A minimum of 10% of annual net revenue is reinvested directly into these initiatives, with adjustments based on evolving community needs and project priorities.
If you would like to learn more about the specific projects your support contributes to, or explore collaborative funding models, please contact me directly.
